(Austin, TX, March 20, 2002) Convio and ASPCA Co-Present on Constituent Relationship Management at Association of Fundraising Professionals' International Conference in April.  Best practices for Internet fundraising and results achieved online by The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) will be the focus of a co-presentation by Convio and the ASPCA at the Association of Fundraising Professionals 39th International Conference on Fundraising, April 14-17, in St. Louis.

"Constituent Relationship Management: Online Fundraising, Marketing and Advocacy for Nonprofits" will examine how today's progressive organizations are leveraging the Internet for these mission-critical activities while also strengthening relationships with prospects and donors to build a strong, sustainable support base.  Convio's founder and CEO, Vinay Bhagat, will discuss best practices. The ASPCA's Director of Direct Marketing, Jo Sullivan, will showcase her organization's successes: extending offline direct marketing efforts to the Web; retaining current members by enhancing their Web site experience; and acquiring new members by converting site visitors to donors through email communications and stewardship.  The Convio-ASPCA presentation is April 16, 2002, 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Room F, at America's Center, 701 Convention Plaza, St. Louis, Missouri (For more information on the AFP conference, please visit http://www.afpnet.org/

Leveraging the Internet to support fundraising and building strong relationships with constituents is increasingly important for today's nonprofits.  Experts predict that by 2010, close to $64 billion dollars will be raised over the Internet.  Traditional donors are moving online in large numbers.  Americans over age 55 now are the fastest growing online segment, make up 21 percent of adults online and conduct 21 percent of all e-commerce transactions.  The Internet also gives fundraisers access to younger donors who are accustomed to for-profit e-commerce Web sites, and expect more than traditional direct-mail donors such as convenient access as well as relevant and personalized information.  Internet technologies provide huge efficiencies compared to offline fundraising and direct marketing programs that typically include costly and long-lead time direct mail and telemarketing campaigns.

A board member of the ePhilanthropy Foundation, Mr. Bhagat is a widely published contributing author, a frequently quoted source in coverage by leading nonprofit, technology and business publications, and a regular speaker at nonprofit philanthropy, marketing and technology conferences.  Before Convio, Bhagat was Director of E-Commerce at Trilogy Software, a leading provider of industry-specific e-business software for Global 2000 companies.  He also was a consultant at Bain & Company, the global strategic business-consulting firm.

Sullivan is responsible for planning and execution of The ASPCA's direct marketing fundraising efforts including direct mail, Internet marketing and telemarketing.  Jo has been part of The ASPCA team since 1999.  Prior to The

ASPCA, Jo held positions at marketing and promotions agencies in Greensboro, North Carolina, handling assignments for industry leaders including Kayser-Roth (No-Nonsense Pantyhose), GM-Volvo Trucks and Doncaster Fashions.
