Convio and Accounting Software Leader, MIP, Partner in Targeting Trillion Dollar Nonprofit Market

Alliance Will Create Efficiencies in Financial Data Management For Nonprofit Organizations

(Austin, TX, November 14, 2001) Convio -- the leading developer of Internet-based software to help nonprofits fundraise and manage constituent relationships -- today announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Micro Information Products Inc. (MIP), the leading accounting software vendor for nonprofits, foundations, governmental agencies and other exempt organizations.

"This alliance makes tremendous sense for both our companies because it provides value to the nonprofit organizations that constitute our mutual customer base," said Vinay Bhagat, Convio's founder and CEO. "Nonprofits that use both Convio and MIP will be able to achieve greater efficiency by easily sharing accurate financial and transactional data between the two applications."

Convio's comprehensive functionality includes support for fundraising over the Internet and other online transactions such as memberships and event ticket sales. Nonprofits using Convio for these activities capture financial data that can be directly exported for use in MIP's accounting software. This integration eliminates manual entry of data into an organization's accounting system, freeing staff to pursue other mission-critical tasks. Integration also eliminates the potential for human error in the data entry process.

"Because our nonprofit customers increasingly are collecting donations and conducting other monetary transactions online, they need to capture the data in their accounting systems," said MIP President Kent Hollrah. "Convio's and MIP's products and services are very complementary, so nonprofits using both will be able to operate much more efficiently and accurately."

In addition to its fundraising and transactional functionality, Convio - which consists of nine modules - enables nonprofits to: easily publish and update Web site content; provide constituents with personalized, relevant Web pages; send segmented emails; wage advocacy campaigns on close to a real-time basis; and synchronize information collected online -- about donors, members and other activists -- with offline databases.

MIP offers three software suites. NPS ProTM, developed for nonprofits with annual operating budgets of $1 to $10 million, helps organizations easily track, manage and report on funds from multiple sources, across multiple budget periods. Advantage NonProfit SeriesTM, an evolutionary design based on MIP's original NonProfit SeriesTM, provides high performance fund accounting for mid- to large-size organizations - typically with annual budgets of $10 million and higher. For small nonprofits with annual budgets of less than $1 million, MIP offers NPS IntroTM. Just introduced in October 2001, NPS Intro is a reasonably priced fund accounting solution that easily upgrades to NPS Pro and Advantage NonProfit SeriesTM.
