American Bible Society Uses Convio to Strengthen Constituent Relationships, Make Online Giving Easier and Track Fundraising Progress

Convio Enables Organization to Connect Daily with Constituents Via “e-Devotionals,” Increase Involvement and Build Loyal Support Base

AUSTIN, TEXAS (Sept. 23, 2004) — The American Bible Society (ABS) -- the world’s leading nonprofit dedicated to making the Bible available to as many people as possible -- now is using Convio’s online tools to increase communications with constituents and make it easier for supporters to donate over the Internet. To date, ABS has relied primarily on direct mail for communications and soliciting donations. Now, for the first time with Convio, ABS will incorporate online technology into its marketing and communications strategy. ABS (http://mission.americanbible.org/) also will be able to better monitor the progress of its online fundraising campaigns progress -- key for determining which strategies and tactics are most effective.

Convio provides market-leading software and services that help nonprofits use the Internet for developing strong constituent relationships to drive fundraising, marketing, advocacy and other forms of support. ABS joins a growing list of top international, national and regional religious nonprofit organizations working with Convio. ABS focuses on the transformation of lives through the use of the Bible. Founded in 1816, ABS has distributed hundreds of millions of Bibles to people the world over.

“Like most nonprofits, to achieve our mission, we have to keep our constituent base as strong as possible and that means making it easy for people to get information and provide support in a variety of forms,” said Denise London, Chief Communications Officer of the American Bible Society. “The Internet has really changed the way people interact with organizations whose cause they believe in, and we strive to make giving to and connecting with ABS as user-friendly as possible. Convio helps us not only make donating to ABS simpler, but allows us to track interactions with these constituents and form deeper relationships over time.”

Using ConvioŽ Email Marketing, ABS now can more frequently and efficiently “touch” constituents. The organization plans to send daily and/or weekly inspirational emails called e-Devotionals to constituents who opt-in to receive communications.

ABS also will use Convio Fundraising Center -- a complete set of online fundraising tools that does not require users to have technical expertise. The solution enables an organization to easily:

  • Build Web pages to support campaigns;
  • Develop and send emails to constituents with appeals, news and campaign updates;
  • Create customized online giving forms with options for multiple giving levels, donations in honor of or in tribute to someone, anonymous gifts, etc.;
  • Run detailed reports to monitor campaign status, view donor information and analyze giving patterns; and
  • View constituent profiles automatically built over time as a constituent interacts online with your organization.

“When Convio began working with ABS, they -- like many nonprofit organizations -- strived to be more donor-service oriented, and find new ways via the Internet to connect with constituents and grow their affinity with the organization,” said Gene Austin, CEO, Convio, Inc. “Convio is helping ABS achieve this goal by being not just a software vendor, but an online partner.”
